Last day of school!
We did it! I can't believe how fast this year flew by. Kindergarten was amazing. And, I mean it too! (My house has suffered greatly, but I still have hope!) Next year I'll have a first grader AND a kindergartener.... What? Any way... Looking forward to the next steps, (homeschool convention [yay!] and summer learning, of course!) Tiffany (taffygrinch)

Encouragement for the Frazzled..
Wow! It has been almost three months since I last blogged anything...Why? Let's just say, I've been a little bit of a mess. My house is a sad reflection of this. Well, that being said, it's spring break! Time to clean up my act! I've been thinking a lot about the next school year, trying to figure out what direction to go. This time around, I will have a Kindergartener AND a First Grader! What?! I am looking forward to the challenge, however Lalalicious and Obi Wan learn VERY DIFFERENTLY. So, I need a game plan! I have poured over curriculum, am planning on going to a convention, but when I am flustered in one aspect of my life, I have a hard time keeping the rest of it together. Here are a few words (mostly to myself) of encouragement, straight from THE SOURCE: ORDERLY: Arranged or disposed in some order or pattern; governed by law, well behaved. 1 Corinthians 14:40 "Let all things be done decently and in order.(Get it together!!) " DILIGENT: Characterized by steady, earnest, and ENERGETIC effort. Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." (Steady, earnest and energetic...) PEACEMAKER: One who promotes harmony in personal relations. Proverbs 15:1 "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs anger." (Harmony in MY home!) It is my prayer and personal goal to attain, even a small portion of this in my life and home! Tiffany (taffygrinch)

Holidaze
Wow! It's been awhile since I've blogged! As we are smack dab in the middle of the holiDAZE, I'll be brief. The last 'read out loud' book and lapbook we completed, was "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." So, over Thanksgiving, we did a "Wonderland" photo shoot (thanks to Gary Prather Photography!)We had so much fun, I wanted to share a few pics! Needless to say, we had a blast! I just wanted to wish you all a blessed Christmas!! From us..

An Ideal Homeschool Day?
What's your ideal homeschool day? Mine? Well, my kids would sleep past 6, for starters! Next, everyone is eager to jump into the day. I have one volunteering to help with breakfast, and another clearing the dishes and cleaning up. And then, begins the school day... they all sit quietly and work efficiently. Every concept and idea is grasped and understood, the first time. There is no lesson planning, you just open the book and go. Sounds nice. I might as well throw in that the house magically cleans itself, the laundry does itself and puts itself away, so on. (One more..) I don't have to find the time, motivation or energy to work out! While that sounds practically perfect, I live in reality. I do have hope of a somewhat organized life...someday. But, in the mean time, I feel extremely grateful that I don't have to be perfect. It is a hard OCD struggle to let go of, but I am always met with failure when trying to be perfect. Because, I can't ever be perfect. I thank God every day, that He is. I am finding that being thankful is a great alternative to my negative tendencies! Especially in this season of thanks, I love my family!

From Michelangelo to Colonial times!
My daughter is very enthusiastic about art projects,... I am not! I love watching her create, just not all the prep. and clean up! (Something I need to work on.) We just completed our study on Michelangelo with a fresco done lying on her back, (naturally!)
My hometown has an annual "Colony Days" weekend, with a parade and events. They set up a "tent city" with a Blacksmiths, an ice cream shop, a bank (where you could trade dollars for wooden nickles to buy ice cream..)and so on. We had just finished our colonial times study, so I though it would be a perfect way to wrap it up!
Lots of fun! Have a great weekend! Tiffany (taffygrinch)
